Sophie-Leigh Does the Fylde Coast Proud at Miss England

Miss Fylde Coast, Sophie-Leigh Anderson, took part in the Miss England Finals earlier this week and was a credit to the area narrowly missing out on a Top 5 placing.

The Finals, consisting of 61 girls, were held over two days at the Hilton Metropole Hotel in Birmingham on Monday and Tuesday.

Sophie-Leigh took part in the Welcome Party, an Eco Fashion Show and Talent round on the Monday evening.

In the Eco Fashion Show the 61 girls had all created their own outfits from either recycled, re-used or ethically sourced materials.

On the Tuesday Sophie-Leigh took part in the main event which consisted of an opening scene wearing a specially created Miss England Dress created by leading fashion designer Karen Karmody, an Evening Wear section and a Sports Wear Finale.

Sophie-Leigh breezed into the Top 15 as one of the 6 Judges choices after also being placed in the Top 10 of the Best Beach Body and Great Lengths Stunning Style Award categories.

Sophie-Leigh narrowly missed out on a Top 5 place, however, in a fiercely contested Final.

Alize Lily Mounter was crowned Miss England in a ceremony which was streamed live online.

Sophie-Leigh said of her experience;

“I was delighted to be given the opportunity to represent the Fylde Coast on such a big occasion”

“It was an incredible experience that I’ll remember for the rest of my life”

“I’ve made so many new friends from all over the country, all the girls were so lovely”

“I’m looking forward to the rest of my year as Miss Fylde Coast now and hope to get involved with as many things in the area as possible”

To request Sophie-Leigh to attend an event you can email mark@mdcevents.co.uk or find out more at www.miss-fylde-coast.co.uk

Boot Camp

Miss Fylde Coast, Sophie-Leigh Anderson was put through her paces “ArmyStyle” last Monday as part of her preparation for the Miss England Finals.

Sophie-Leigh travelled down to the Hilton Metropole Hotel in Birmingham for the Miss England Sports Boot Camp Event.

Army Physical Training Instructors from www.regimentfitness.co.uk  put all 61 finalists through a gruelling 2 hour fitness test.

The contestants took part in warm up exercises as well as Army Drills including Press Ups, Sit Ups, Burpies and Shuttle Runs.

The Top 20 contestants were then “rewarded” by taking part in one final test, the Army Bleep Test.

A running endurance test where the prize for the last girl standing was a fast track place in the Top 15 at the Miss England Final.

Sophie-Leigh did magnificently well to make the final 20 but narrowly lost out to eventual Miss England Sportswoman award winnerJade Williams (Miss Stratford Upon Avon).

Sophie-Leigh said of the experience; “The Army Instructors didn’t go easy on us and it was a real tough test to take part in”

“Although completely exhausting, it was a fun day and a great opportunity to meet the other finalists!”

Sophie-Leigh now has 3 weeks to prepare for the Miss England Final on 19th July in Birmingham

Miss Charity Fylde Coast

This year, contests of Miss Fylde Coast were dedicated to raising money for The Variety Club Childrens’ Charity, who help disabled and disadvantaged children. All contestants worked hard and enthusiastically to raise as much as they possibly could for the charity. The girl who raised the most would be awarded Miss Charity Fylde Coast, presented with a sash and a stunning watch from Delanicci Extreme.

Miss Charity Fylde Coast 2011 was awarded to Danielle Wrench, from Lytham St Annes, Student Liverpool Hope University.

Danielle worked hard for weeks to prepare to host a Spring Dinner Dance Fundraiser at The De Vere Village Hotel, Blackpool on Friday 20th May.
Guests paid £23.50 a head (or £210 for a table of 10) for a spectacular evening event which included a red carpet and pink champagne reception, 3 course meal and coffee, a raffle, prize draw and auction and live entertainment throughout the evening provided by Smooth Chalk Swing Band and Trident Rock and Party Band. The event raised £1000
Danielle said about the experience:
‘I battled for the cheapest cost for everything and managed to get free bottles of champagne and free decorations which were all Red, White and Gold. I contacted around 500 companies for possible donations, event sponsorship or raffle and auction prizes. I only received about 100 responses, the majority being “We cannot help you at this time”, but still managed to get some amazingly generous prizes donated. Prizes such as: A Bungee Jump, an Aston Martin Thrill Drive, Quad Biking, Free Dancewear and Dance Lessons, a Flying Lesson, Loads of Hair and Beauty Products, tickets to see Boyzone at Lytham Proms plus Champagne, Blackpool FC Signed Merchandise etc.

I was really pleased with how the evening went and how much I had managed to raise in such a short space of time, it felt like all my hard work and weeks of stress had paid off. As a result, I was so thrilled to be titled Miss Charity Fylde Coast 2011 and will use this to my advantage whilst continuing to raise money for my three chosen charities this year. These are Wishing Well House which supports young people with autism, The Lowther Pavilion Trust and of course The Variety Club Childrens’ Charity and I am already planning some more events for late 2011 and 2012.’

Sue Ryder Cancer Care Midnight Walk Launch Shoot

Recently I featured as a model for a physiotherapy demo at a local beauty evening. While stretched out on a physio bed (with my bottom unattractively being broadcast on a large live feed screen) I was approached by some lovely ladies from Sue Ryder Cancer Care Events Team.

After talking to them I learnt that they were organising the Midnight Walk on the Fylde Coast. The 2010 Midnight Walk’s raised £560,000 across the UK, dramatically helping the charity aid and care for people with life-long illnesses.

I was asked to be involved as Miss Fylde Coast and invited to a photo shoot for the launch event the following week.

I arrived at Granny’s Bay in Lytham at dusk for the photo shoot with some management from the Dalmeny Hotel (the launch venue) and students from Blackpool and the Fylde College. The photo shoot was really good fun as it wasn’t too serious! I had a big pink fluffy boa to wear and the others were all wearing flashing bunny ears, a signature feature of the event.

I really enjoyed myself and I am looking forward to the official launch event in February and the photo spread in Lancashire Life in the New Year!

Christmas Light Switch On – Fresh Cafe

So I was a little disappointed to not be involved in any local Christmas Lights Switch On events this year; I would have loved to work with the Borough Council and I’m sure they would have loved to host some of the Miss England contestants!  I was however invited to switch the lights on at a local café, which I thought would be fun so thought why not!

It also happened to be coincidently the same night as the high street switch on…

I arrived at the café to a complimentary hot chocolate with lots of squirty cream and marshmallows! When it was getting dark I turned the lights on to a countdown from a packed café and had a few pictures with the café owners and children.

I really enjoyed talking to all the local people and was especially thrilled when a little girl asked if I was a princess! If only……………

Meeting Wonderland

After the fantastic Scentworld shop opening we were invited to meet Joe McElderry (as he was in town switching on the Christmas Lights) by the Hounds Hill Shopping Centre Manager. I was extremely excited, as I am a huge X Factor fan!

However my excitement was short lived when we arrived to meet him and were disappointed that he had had to depart early.

We did however get to meet Wonderland, a new girlband formed by Louis Walsh and Kian from Westlife. The girls were really sweet and made comments suggesting they were quite jealous of my crown!

I wish them all the luck in the music business and look out for their work soon!

Grand Opening of Scent World in Blackpool

After a busy few weeks in my day job of teaching I was eager to have some more Miss Fylde Coast experiences. So when ScentWorld contacted the Miss England office requesting some ‘Miss Girls’ to go down and open their new shop I was delighted to be involved. I was even more thrilled when I found out that the new shop was in my region, in Blackpool Town Centre.

I arrived at the shop and was excited to see some of my ‘Miss’ friends, Miss Bolton, Miss Burnley and Miss Morecambe. I was also greeted by Diane Slater (a regional heat organiser) and one of her regional teen girls.

Initially we helped promote the new store and its amazing offers around Hounds Hill Shopping Centre. We were then asked to cut the ribbon across the shop front and have pictures for the local press.

It was lovely to open the new shop and talk to the first customers through the door. I also enjoyed catching up with the other Miss girls!

Therapy Through Exercise Demonstration

On a more unusual request, I was asked to be a model for a physiotherapy demonstration by a close friend. I say more unusual as I spent the night with my face in a hole of a physiotherapy bed instead of made up and smiling!

However I did have fun as I was basically treated to massage for two whole hours. I was also given some helpful pointers on my posture which is good for any aspiring Miss contestant!

The only downer was at one point I turned my head towards the live feed (giant) TV screen to see my bottom enlarged and spread across it! Even after shouting at the camera man I still spied some flashes of it!

Jenna Elizabeth Bridal Fair

Last weekend I was asked to model bridal wear at the Tickled Trout Hotel for Jenna Elizabeth Bridal.

I was thrilled to be asked as I really enjoy getting dressed up. It was great fun and just another example of the wonderful things I’ve been lucky enough to do since becoming Miss Fylde Coast.

North West Tractor Pulling- Great Eccleston

I heard about Tractor Pulling while listening to the radio and having investigated more I saw that there was a big event coming up in local Wrye village, Great Eccleston. I got in touch with the North West division who were hosting the event and they invited me down as a VIP guest.

Now in all honesty like most people I had no idea what Tractor Pulling was! I had images of farmyard tractors pulling hay bales around. I couldn’t have been more wrong!

Firstly as I approached the event site I was overwhelmed by the amount of fans parking up. I also underestimated the fact that the event was in a field and it had been raining so looked completely out of place in my maxi-dress, sash and crown (however I did team this look with wellies as you can see!).

Once settled in the VIP area, I met the lovely Wrye Mayor Russell Forsyth and organisers of the event who were all lovely. I also spoke to lots of fans of the motor sport and learnt a lot more! The competition began and I was overwhelmed by the excitement in the arena! It was incredibly loud, possibly due to the fact that these ‘tractors’ (more modified monster machines) were equipped with jet engines!

The object of Tractor Pulling is to pull a weighted sledge down a 100metre track. The sledge gets heavier as it travels and competitors fight to take it the furthest! It got really tense as we watched for the exact distance to flag up on the board and there was some occasional excitement when an engine set on fire!

I was asked to go out into the arena to present some trophies with Russell, which was lovely and very exciting! It was however fairly difficult to reach the 1st place winner on the top podium in my wellies!

I had a lovely evening at the Tractor Pulling Event and I am genuinely quite hooked on the sport, even if I don’t yet fully understand the categories! I will be attending as a spectator next year and spreading the word to the Fylde Coast! :0)

Thanks to the North West Tractor Pulling Club and Paul Fisher Photography.

Miss Southport’s Charity Fashion Show

On Friday I was invited to attend Miss Southport, Abi Bridgeman’s, Charity Fashion Show in aid of The Variety Club.

The event was held at a beautiful venue in Southport and featured fashion from Db3 (Preston), Heaven Sent and Man-to-Man (Southport).

The models really worked the catwalk and showed off the fashion to it’s full potential. The audience were also treated to a comedian and music set before Abi graced the stage in a stunning pink sequinned dress to thank her event guests.

I was really impressed with the organisation of the event, the promotional materials looked fab and considering some of the models had never done a catwalk before they rocked! Once again this event and my conversations with the models afterwards confirmed my thoughts that modelling is not only fun but also a real boost to personal confidence. :0)

Blackpool Pleasure Beach Star Idol Talent Search Final

A few weeks ago I received an exciting letter from Blackpool Pleasure Beach and Stageworks Productions asking me to be a guest judge at their prestigious Star Idol Talent Search! I was really excited and immediately took them up on their offer.

I arrived at the Pleasure Beach sash and crowned up and mingled with some of the contestants and their families before taking my place on the judging panel in the Horseshoe theatre. I was also lucky enough to be joined on the panel by Robin Duke from The Blackpool Gazette and the hilarious Simon George from Stageworks.

The panel were introduced to the audience by the compare and we enjoyed eleven acts, mainly singers but also a juggler and a keyboard player. I really enjoyed the juggler’s performance but I think nerves got the better of him and he made a couple of mistakes!

At the end of the contest we disappeared to a secret location (all very X Factor!) and deliberated a winner. This was genuinely hard. However we eventually settled on January; a very talented vocalist who dazzled on stage with her confident performance. I was nominated to go up onto the stage to present the prize of £500, much to my amazement I didn’t trip on the stairs but did a little on the stage!

I met with January after the show for some photographs and she was genuinely a lovely young girl. I also met some young girls who had been waving to me from the audience in the evening, which was lovely and made me feel like I was starting to fulfil the role model intention that I am striving for as Miss Fylde Coast. :0)

Thanks to Stageworks Blackpool and Robin Duke from the Blackpool Gazette.

Miss Preston’s Charity Raffle Night

On Sunday I attended Leigh Osgerby (Miss Preston)’s Charity raffle in aid of The Variety Club. I was overwhelmed by the support Leigh received from her friends, family and general public, selling around 1000 tickets at £1 each! A fantastic achievement for the charity; which wasn’t surprising considering the prizes included a signed Blackpool football, night away and a Pandora bracelet.

I had my eye on some china cups, but as usual in raffles my luck did not shine through and I left empty handed! However I was pleased with the amount of awareness and funds raised for the charity and had a lovely evening with Leigh. :0)

Charity Night in Bolton

Last Saturday I was treated to a night out in Bolton, helping Noopur Sharma (Miss Charity Bolton) raise funds for The Variety Club.

After enjoying a lovely curry with Noopur’s very supportive family, we were lucky enough to meet her old colleagues who have been partly responsible for her phenomenal success in the public votes.

We were then whisked to the J2 Club which was hosting Noopur’s Charity night. After meeting the staff and having some promotional photographs with the other “Miss’s”, were shown our VIP area. The highlight of the night for me however had to be dancing the night away to very cheesy music with Miss Southport.

This was my first visit to Bolton…I was really impressed! Everybody we met was very welcoming and eager to show off their home city to its full potential. I have to add that the local Tesco superstore was the most impressive I have seen- I will be writing to my Blackpool store to encourage a recycling unit like Bolton’s ASAP!! :0)

Miss England Training @ the Vincent Hotel, Southport|by Kerry Capoverde

Kerry Capoverde writes;

I’ve just arrived home from a fantastic couple of days away with my sisters in Team North (Miss England Representatives from the North-West) on a Miss England training course.

It really has been a brilliant experience!! For a start we were very lucky to be in the presence of the inspirational Kat Hodge, aka the reigning Miss England as well as several other industry professionals, with a wealth of pageant experience!

I arrived at the beautiful Vincent Hotel in Southport and was immediately treated like a princess! The concierge were truly lovely, assuring everything was perfect in our luxury rooms. I was especially excited about the Japanese bath!

After a relaxing nights rest we were on with the hard work, hard but still really good fun. Our training day started with an introduction from Kat outlining her experiences of being Miss England. I was thrilled to be able to hear Kat’s thoughts and reflections- how many people can say that they have had this opportunity?!

One of the most exciting aspects of the day was to hear more about ModelZed from the wonderful Kate Solomans. I was really encouraged that the agency did more than just hire out models for fashion castings…the fact that Kate also scouts girls for promotional work, presenting and events is fab! I am really hoping and looking forward to working with Kate on exciting projects soon, maybe even wearing a giant Bee costume!

We were also lucky enough to have Lisa Powell, the official Miss England choreographer on hand to put us through our paces on the catwalk. I found this very beneficial as she gave really simple and effective tips for perfecting our struts! I now know that I need to walk around at home with a book on my head to perfect my posture and imagine an invisible thread running through my body to keep in line. I loved the catwalk training, probably because it kind of involves a stage and a spotlight…

After a delicious subway lunch break, the lovely ladies from Paver Smith came into to give us some top PR and media tips. Laura Woods has interviewed me in the past and is such a lovely lady! It was great to get some industry perspective on interviews in the media and Megan aka Miss Wigan was fantastic in a mock interview we observed, looking at positive and negative ways to answer questions.

I also took part in a photography masterclass with Miss England official photographer Paul Fisher and Kat as my mentors. This was the most important part of the day for me, as I am not as confident with striking a pose as I probably should be! However I am really grateful for the support and advice Kat and Paul gave me… tip of the day; do not stick hips out to the side in a patterned maxi dress! I am now more excited to spend the day developing my portfolio with Paul very soon!

I have had a fab time on the Miss England training camp and really developed my confidence further. I would like to say thanks to all the fantastic industry professionals that attended the day, but especially to Mark Jones for being the best regional organiser we could ask for! I am really looking forward to working on more events on the Fylde, starting at the Pleasure Beach in a couple of weeks!

CassieFairy Tutu Promotions Shoot

Last week I was asked to be the face of internet based tutu company ‘CassieFairy’ and today I went down to my shoot!!

I had so much fun modelling the tutu’s, which are all hand made to order and were photographed by Tempest photography. The props I was given made it even more fun, such as an electric guitar, hula hoop and flowers. Each picture and prop told a story and I enjoyed getting into character!!

Thanks to Cassie from ‘CassieFairy’ and Ruth from Tempest Photography who made the day really enjoyable :0)

Visit to Miss Morecambe’s Region & Elements Nightclub Appearance

This weekend I was invited to spend time with the lovely Steph Jackson aka Miss Morecambe in her home region!! It was even more lovely because I was joined by my sisters in Team North (the other regional winners for Miss England in the North West)  as well as photographer Paul Fisher (who was also celebrating his birthday!).

I have never been to Morecambe, even though it is really only up the coast from the Fylde! I went up early with Miss Southport to explore the seaside resort only to find it was raining! However a little bit of rain never dampens our sprits! After a stroll down the prom, a brief glimpse of the Tutti Fruity Festival and a game of bowling we managed to squeeze in a picture moment with the famous Eric Morecambe monument!

The majority of Team North got together early evening to meet Fred Batt from Living TV’s Most Haunted programme, which was a lovely experience, although I was quite scared! We were then whisked off to host an evening at Elements Nightclub in Lancaster, in which we crowned ‘The Face of Elements’.

All in all another fabulous weekend with Team North and I am looking forward to planning lots of Charity related events with all the girls!

Visit to Donna’s Dream House

I have been looking forward to today a lot!! I was invited down to Donna’s Dream House in Blackpool today to meet the Chairman of Trustee’s, Len Curtis and hand over a cheque.

I am very passionate about the work that Donna’s Dream House carry out, providing holidays and breaks for families with children suffering from life-threatening or terminal illnesses. The staff were fantastic from the outset, it was obvious how passionate they were about their roles and they were thrilled to show me around. I was accompanied by Jane Mather, a learning mentor from my Primary School and a representative from the children’s school council.

I was amazed at the facilities, including a newly built cinema room and hot tub after a very kind donation by Channel Four’s, ‘The Secret Millionaire’. It was also very interesting to hear more about the work the charity does and how I can help over my year as Miss Fylde Coast. It was particularly interesting to know that the charity is always open to non-perishable food donations such as tins of beans…I can see a tin-drive event looming!!

Before I departed we handed over a cheque, raised by the teachers and I at my school by ‘running’ the Blackpool 10K in May. We were also kindly given a plaque in recognition of our donation. I am very excited to be working with Donna’s Dream House and eager to start raising funds and awareness for them!!

Judging Miss Cumbria 2010

Last week I had a very exciting phone call from Mark Jones, our regional organiser asking if I would like to be a judge at Miss Cumbria 2010…ermmm OF COURSE!! To date this is the most exciting event I have been involved in!!

So this week I took the trip up North with some of the other ‘Miss girls’ and had the fantastic opportunity of meeting all the Miss Cumbria finalists, who were honestly all-beautiful people. I realised very quickly that judging competitions like this is not at all easy!!

I managed to have an informal chat with each of the girls, in which I found out about their careers, what charity events they have been doing and why they entered the competition. It was really encouraging to hear that the girls came from all different walks of life…at Miss Cumbria there was a prison guard and a women who had not worn a dress since the age of 7!!

Watching the show was amazing, judging the girls was genuinely very hard. Thank goodness I had the support of the other judges!! We ended up with a top five instead of a top three, because of the strength on the day. Kirstie Day was crowned Miss Cumbria 2010, a very deserved winner, especially after raising £5,000 for The Variety Club and also being crowned Miss Charity Cumbria.

I loved my experience of guest judging the competition and really hope to have more opportunities soon!! :0)

Lytham Club Day & BBC Radio Lancashire

This weekend I was honoured to be invited to help out at the prestigious and favoured Lytham Club Day!! I was even more thrilled to be joined on my travels by my good friend and newly crowned Miss Preston, Leigh Osgerby.

I had a fantastic time doing the parade and collecting change for the club day fund… it was great to meet lots of people from Lytham, especially children who loved my crown!! It was also a beautiful day on the Fylde, the sun was shining, lots of ice cream and summery dresses!

I was also invited down to Lowther Pavilion to meet the newly crowned Rose Queens and take part in an interview with Maria Felix Vas from BBC Radio Lancashire. The new Rose Queens were fab… really confident and poised! I was asked to give them some tips, but in all honesty I was in awe of how together they were even though they had just won! Another brilliant weekend :0)

BBC Radio Lancashire School Visit & Interview

I am thrilled that my Eco costume for the Miss England Semi-Finals has created such a stir in the Fylde!!

Firstly I found myself on the front cover of ‘Eve’ women’s magazine (Blackpool Gazette) and today I have been on the BBC Radio Lancashire breakfast show, live from my school, Holy Family Primary, Blackpool.

I was really excited to have my school’s involvement, especially since I was asked to select five children from my class to join me on the show. The kids were ace, however we did have some interesting responses, such as ‘Miss’ dress is rubbish!’

See the BBC News website article here

Miss England Semi-Finals @ Champneys

This week I was thrilled to take part in the Miss England Semi-Finals at the beautiful Champney’s Spa Resort in Leicestershire.

I was incredibly nervous and excited, however Mark Jones (our regional organiser) was as fantastic as ever and arranged for his North West girls to meet up the day before and travel down together. This was a huge relief for me- the other girls are wonderful!! I have had the best experience ever and most of it is down to the wonderful Miss ladies from the newly dubbed ‘Team North’!!

I arrived at Champney’s with sixty other stunning girls, dragging eco costumes, ball gowns and suitcases. Once we were shown our changing rooms we had the opportunity to get to know each other and mingle, which was a lovely chance to put a personality to a picture from the website.

Assembling my eco-costume was challenging, but the girls were so lovely I got lots of help offers. Mr and Miss England interviewed me in my eco costume… although I was thrilled to finally meet them, it was fairly nerve-racking! Especially when the papier mache bustier I was wearing started to go moist! I was slightly disappointed at my interview, I did not feel that I gave it enough and nerves may have got the better of me, but what an experience to remember!!

We also had to complete a sports round…I was really looking forward to this, as I was really interested in Kat Hodge (the current Miss England) banning the bikini round. I was not so thrilled when I found out I had to do the Royal Navy bleep test!! However, I enjoyed it all the same. I tried my best and had to have a lie down after, but was thrilled for my girly Abi Bridgeman who was crowned Miss Sportswoman and was very deserving. She is an inspiration!!

I really enjoyed getting dressed up for the winners announcement and walking out in front of a huge audience in the beautiful spa foyer. It was nerve wracking waiting to hear who had gone through and to my disappointment I had not. However I am staggered to have had the opportunity, it was an experience to tell my grandchildren and I am looking forward to representing the Fylde Coast for the next 11months!! :0)

Blackpool Gazette Eco Feature

Well I’m all set for the Miss England Semi-Finals- nervous and very excited at the same time!!

My eco-costume has been stressful but a great experience and taken up most of my half-term from school!! But it is finally finished and looking pretty fantastic (thanks to my mum and her wild ideas!).

I really wanted to reflect my reigning region of the Fylde; the skirt was made from an old hula hoop, bed sheet and covered with old promotional leaflets from the Fylde Coast. The top was cleverly designed and made by my class out of Yellow Pages Papier Mache. My good friend and talented artist helped me to make a Blackpool Tower shaped crown out of two wire coat hangers.

After all the excitement and rush to have it complete I received a lovely phone call from Elizabeth Gomm at the Blackpool Gazette for an interview focussing on my eco-costume. I was also lucky enough to have a photographer visit me at home to photo me in my delightful costume, which caused quite a stir with the neighbours!! :0)

Kerry is Miss Fylde Coast 2010

Kerry Capoverde was crowned Miss Fylde Coast 2010 at a packed Dalmeny Hotel tonight.

After an intense day of photoshoots and interviews, Kerry pipped Leigh Osgerby into second place.

Kerry will now go forward to the Miss England Semi Finals in exactly one months time.

Joint 3rd place went to Charlotte Latus and Jessica Berry.

Charlotte also scooped the Miss Popularity Fylde Coast award after gaining the highest public vote and the coveted Miss Charity Fylde Coast award after raising £705 for the Variety Club North West.

Miss England tours the Fylde Coast

Miss England Katrina Hodge visited the Fylde Coast last Thursday (11th February) stopping off in Blackpool and Lytham.

Kat was in the area to officially launch the search for Miss Fylde Coast 2010, the only entry heat into Miss England in the area.

Girls from across the region have until Friday 12th March to enter via our “Enter Now” section.

Welcome to Miss Fylde Coast

Miss Fylde Coast is a direct entry heat into the Miss England competition. The winner of Miss Fylde Coast will, amongst other prizes, win a place in the Miss England Final where she will have a chance to go onto Miss World 2010 in Vietnam where the main prize is $100,000.

Much more than a beauty pageant or modelling competition, the organisers of Miss Fylde Coast are looking for an ambassador for the area. Someone well presented, confident and able to communicate are just some of the qualities that the judges will be looking for. Our winner will be actively encouraged to use their title to promote the area and raise the profile of many worthy causes throughout their year.

The Miss World motto is “Beauty with a Purpose” and this is something we fully subscribe to. Our aim is to raise as much money as possible for the Variety Club Children’s Charity through contestant fundraising and activities.
The winner could be an existing model, beauty pageant contestant or a complete newcomer. Many Miss England heat winners have won their heats with no prior experience. It could be you!

Applications are now being taken for the 2010 competition, simply click on the “Enter Now” button above.

Miss Fylde Coast is open to any girl who will be aged 17-24 on 31st December 2010 who was either born, has lived, works or studies in the Fylde Coast. Entrants must have never been married and have no children. Full rules are available in the “Enter Now” section.
