Judging Miss Cumbria 2010

Last week I had a very exciting phone call from Mark Jones, our regional organiser asking if I would like to be a judge at Miss Cumbria 2010…ermmm OF COURSE!! To date this is the most exciting event I have been involved in!!

So this week I took the trip up North with some of the other ‘Miss girls’ and had the fantastic opportunity of meeting all the Miss Cumbria finalists, who were honestly all-beautiful people. I realised very quickly that judging competitions like this is not at all easy!!

I managed to have an informal chat with each of the girls, in which I found out about their careers, what charity events they have been doing and why they entered the competition. It was really encouraging to hear that the girls came from all different walks of life…at Miss Cumbria there was a prison guard and a women who had not worn a dress since the age of 7!!

Watching the show was amazing, judging the girls was genuinely very hard. Thank goodness I had the support of the other judges!! We ended up with a top five instead of a top three, because of the strength on the day. Kirstie Day was crowned Miss Cumbria 2010, a very deserved winner, especially after raising £5,000 for The Variety Club and also being crowned Miss Charity Cumbria.

I loved my experience of guest judging the competition and really hope to have more opportunities soon!! :0)
