Blackpool Pleasure Beach Star Idol Talent Search Final

A few weeks ago I received an exciting letter from Blackpool Pleasure Beach and Stageworks Productions asking me to be a guest judge at their prestigious Star Idol Talent Search! I was really excited and immediately took them up on their offer.

I arrived at the Pleasure Beach sash and crowned up and mingled with some of the contestants and their families before taking my place on the judging panel in the Horseshoe theatre. I was also lucky enough to be joined on the panel by Robin Duke from The Blackpool Gazette and the hilarious Simon George from Stageworks.

The panel were introduced to the audience by the compare and we enjoyed eleven acts, mainly singers but also a juggler and a keyboard player. I really enjoyed the juggler’s performance but I think nerves got the better of him and he made a couple of mistakes!

At the end of the contest we disappeared to a secret location (all very X Factor!) and deliberated a winner. This was genuinely hard. However we eventually settled on January; a very talented vocalist who dazzled on stage with her confident performance. I was nominated to go up onto the stage to present the prize of £500, much to my amazement I didn’t trip on the stairs but did a little on the stage!

I met with January after the show for some photographs and she was genuinely a lovely young girl. I also met some young girls who had been waving to me from the audience in the evening, which was lovely and made me feel like I was starting to fulfil the role model intention that I am striving for as Miss Fylde Coast. :0)
